  The chocolate almond croissant was too bread-y and not light and flake-y. That was the only thing we bought, at the recommendation of a friend.
  
  The space was aiming for cozy that crossed into "stuffy" with similarly boring decor. The walls are yellowish brown with olive green moulding. The chairs are all heavy wood with leather. The lighting is warm and dark except for the unharmonious fluorescent lights coming from the drink holders. The kitchen is somewhat open, but not in a purposeful way. The cacophonous sounds of the bread-cutter prevents any purposeful conversation.

  This place is right down the street from my house and I have been excited to try it. So today I had a day off and decided to go get a coffee and pastry for breakfast. When I arrived at 9:00 am, thinking it must be open by then, I found a locked door with no hours listed. I looked them up and saw they don't open until 10am. What bakery doesn't open early??? Hellooooo!!! You sell coffee and pastries. Good luck staying in business like that.

  No surprise the bread and pastries are best earlier in the day. Not the absolute best, but probably the best in the Laurel area. Combine that with the atmosphere of Savage Mill, and it's an easy 5 stars.
